Makeup Men Can't Resist

Guys always Cliam That they prefer the natural looking girl,or the "Girl next door look"Then they Cant stop gushing how great we look when we get all done up!WTH?.....

I was reading a popular women's mag the other day and a whole article was devoted to this very topic.."Do men really like women in natural makeup?" 
As the article went on to say, it turns out our definition of natural (barely there lip gloss and maybe a little mascara)is TOTALLY different from their's.
Here's how to create the looks guys love ...Even if they have no flippin idea how UNnatural it really is. 

Before we begin here is some background where the article got its info.
The article had polled 100's of men and asked if they perfed women looking natural or wearing makeup,and 82% said  au naturel.But then the mag went on to show these guys two different photo's of the same celeb
One sporting barely any makeup and one with a more polished look .

ON average ,71% picked the latter.Why the disconnect?"To women ,natural means lip gloss and not much else ," says Clarins makeup artist Pati Dubroff.But guys are well pretty clueless about cosmetics,They love the makeup that gives you a even skin tone and subtle yet noticeable about of color,not over the top.

Now that I have your attention,How do you get it?

Skin------

Nothing makes you look more overdone or ages you than wearing to much foundation ,or a heavy layer 

 Here's how:

Foundations--- after you moisturizer,get a blending sponge like these to the right -----> one is from target and the other Sephora...What these are are: 

"Beauty Blender’s “pink-egg” makeup sponge is necessary for blending. It’s the perfect tool for blending out foundation lines. Beauty blender’s patent-pending elliptical shape makes blending and makeup application "foolproof by allowing you to access hard-to-reach areas with stunning ease.""

How to use it:

Basically you wet the sponge down and squeeze out the water.The sponge being damp helps foundation go on smooth and more natural looking by stippling with the round bottom of the sponge and using the tip for hard to reach places.Start at the center of your face where you need the most coverage and then tap under eyes and blend outward so it just fades of your face.That way there isn't the ring around the neck look or light face dark neck..PLZ for the love of makeup girls BLEND!!!

AFTER you have put your foundation on,use your clean dry hands and lightly press on your skin the warmth from your hands helps foundation melt into your skin more evenly,just like you would press moisturizer in.It will help remove any thick spots and become more seamless.Grrr baby GRRR
Lightly powder t zone after you have used concealer under eyes and in places you only need a little extra coverage.Use ring finger to pat in and gently blend out and down into face.use the sponge to press powder into your t zone to hide any shine that wants to try to come through later.

 CHEEKS----- 

Use this general rule for choosing blush shades:To find a perfect color match check inside the bottom of your lip,The blood is so close to the surface this area is perfect for revealing your natural flush..

When your trying to get a more polished look that's subtle use a cream blush as apposed to a powder one ..Cream blushes give a dewier effect and last longer than powder blushes and don't look chalky.Use your finger tips or ring finger to apply to apples of cheeks and blend upwards to about the temple .

 

EYES----

Honestly one of the things guys are drawn to is women with well defined long thick lashes.

Curl your lashes apply at least 2 coats of fav mascara apply second coat while first is still wet to stop flaking or smudging .A little brown eyeliner pencil or black smudged in at lashes helps them to look thicker.

LIPS----

Soft pillowy lips that have a rosy tint (I guess it goes back to the whole fertility thing)(at least thats what the article said)


Creat Kissable lips-----

1.Prime your mouth with lip balm with fingers,this stops the cracking and chapped lips thing from happening ,But work the balm in a circular motion for like 30 secs to crank up blood flow in lips..I know it sounds dirty but just go with it k...find a shade that matches your lips...AND PRESS it in Don't glide it on ..WAY to much COLOR!! So it will give more of a stain finish .Apply a little clear gloss heavy in the middle  and lightly patted outward to reflect light.

If you have fair skin:


Fair skin looks best with colors in the pale pink and berry category. This excludes frosty pinks. Choosing a pink color that is close to the color of your natural lips can really make them stand out.

If you have medium/olive skin:


This skin tone looks great in shades of beige's, apricots, and bronzy nudes. It is also recommended to wear shades that are close to your natural lip color.

If you have dark skin:


Darker skin is great with colors of mauve's, berries and sheer reds. Dark skin is great to pull off the classic red, sophisticated look. Just be sure not to overdo it and pull off the right makeup to play up your ruby red lips.

The real truth about skinny jeans...Myths and Facts.......

Unless you have been living under a rock or sitting in a Hanson concert line for the last decade you know what skinny jeans are.Skinny jeans have been in our stores,on our racks in our closets for awhile now.Longer than at least I expected,I mean you cant go in a store with out seeing racks and racks of them,staring at you,saying "buy me buy me" Ill make you look skinny.......That's where this blog begins ..Do they really make you look long and lean? Should u wear them? Do you have to be a size 00 to really rock them? Whats the best way to wear them?What about shoes? WELL strap on a seat belt sweetheart its gonna be a bumpy ride........ 

                               

Why they call them skinny .......

Skinny jeans can have several definitions. They may refer to very tight fitting jeans that have a tapered leg and are usually made of denim. They’re also sometimes the pants women refer to as the elusive pair of jeans they could fit into if they just lost a few pounds. The first definition is more common.

The skinny jeans style wasn’t always jeans when first worn in the early 1950s. The pants had other names like pencil pants and were noticeably tapered to fit the leg with a very slim cut leg bottom that hugged the ankles. Such styles were worn by men and women, and were popularized by people in the rock and roll industry, in country western music and also by several noted actresses like Sandra Dee and Rock stars like Elvis .I googled that definition! Arent you impressed?:p

Now you know where that name came from and why they are called skinny jeans..The real question is "do you have to be super skinny to wear them?" Here are some facts and myths about skinny jeans.I will add that I am a curvy girl, I always have been and no matter what size I am that wont change.I have been a VERY wide range of sizes currently I am a size 6,do I wanna be a 2 ...hell yeah, have I been a size 24 hell yeah,Im 5'3 and god knows I just keep waiting for those 2 extra inches that never seem to come? Instead those 2 extra inches like to creep on my thighs when I'm not looking..

But that's a whole different blog and a whole different rant I wont get into ......

Here's what I have found about the subject matter....

The Body-Type Match

YES CURVY GIRLS CAN WEAR THEM TOO!

 Buying a pair of jeans that fits you perfectly, is the key. This is because if the jeans is too long, then it will bunch up in the ankle area thus making you look awkward. 

A fuller top will look great along with a pair of skinny jeans, as the jeans are already so tight and this will be helpful in balancing it.

 Skinny jeans look simply great with tuck-into boots or with high heels or with flats. You can even roll up the jeans and wear it along with high boots, high heels or even ankle boots.Find a size that fits your waist comfortably.

 The most import fact to remember is its ok for a pair of jeans to be comfortable to wear.If you buy the right fabric and wash, rock the right shoes and put volume to balance out whatever you want to hide and show off what you do have, They will make you feel super sexy at any size.Also while Im on the subject ....baggier clothes yes they hide fat BUT they also make you look fatter.Your not doing your self ANY favors wearing a shirt or jeans thats 4 sizes to big.NO Im not saying everyone has to wear skinny jeans  but what I am saying is don't hide behind a moo moo..2.just because your thin doesn't mean you need to wear the tightest shirt you own with your skinny jeans either.Put together is way better than "wow that's umm tight ""Can you breathe?" Glam Ladies Glam!

MOST IMPORTANTLY Confidence is honestly the sexiest thing of all. So if you wear a pair of skinny jeans and they make you feel sexy and that you look GLAM then it will show.Unless you wear 5inch heels and you cant walk by the end of the night...Then that will show too...Don't ask...:P

How to keep your eye shadow on all night long......

Have you ever taken the time to actually put eye shadow on? Then stepped back and thought " Damn Gina, that looks good"(maybe not in those words but you get the idea) only to go to work, a concert or out on the town,just to be let down that all that hard work got screwed because you either sweat it off, smudged it off, smeared it off, or it creased so bad that the once sexy smoky eye you spent all that time putting on, now has now turned you into Kung foo Panda?Trust me I have! 

I remember this time I had actually spent a huge amount of time putting my makeup on..let me tell you it was soo beautiful that people stoped me in the restaurant before we went out to tell me how pretty i was...NO lie! I was on cloud nine that day....I went to a "show" after it was over I ran to the bathroom to make sure I still looked great....what I saw was soo frighting I cant bare to even think about it let alone talk about it......BUT I guess I can share this story with you to make a point......OK soo there I was standing in the bathroom line lalala by myself ,standing in such a "my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard,dang right its better than yours"way that girls were walking out staring at me...I would give them the "don't hate the player baby hate the game" expression back .....as I drew closer to the mirror I remember lightly touching my eye and some black kinda came off on my fingers...I was like oh no lol...I hope I didn't mess anything up........Finally I was at the mirror ready to be united once again with my fine looking self.......When I looked up what I saw was soo horrible so scary that i started to panic! Like full blown flipping out couldn't breath palms sweaty , pulse racing .....I wanted to crawl in a hole and hide forever! I know your like "dude what happend" well basically in a nut shell .....EVERYTHING Smudged! all over the place!Lipstick up my cheek,eyeliner down my face I looked like a had been sleeping on the street no blanket,piss ant drunk the day after a wild night of "Oh Oh Oh give a little "...

 Yup thats how I felt.....I am telling you this story not to just get a laugh out, but to let you know this doesn't have to happen to anyone! EVER!
 Times have changed and technology has come a long way.Now we have products that make all that effort stay put even if your at a "Hanson concert" in pit sweating from all the dancing. Yes thats what I said sounds to good to be true huh..Thats what I thought to. But Im here to tell you it can happen! If you know me then you know That the way I walk in is usually the way I walk out, because I have since that crazy night spent hours looking for the answers to wtf was happened to my makeup!

Drug Store bases.....The reason I bought this one up  is because I always say "dont forget to wrap it up" ok dirty dirty ...I mean put a base on your eyes!What I am saying is by something drugstore so you can play with it over use it the first few times then when it is time time to buy something more,You not only appreciate  a base when you spend a little more but be a little less waste full and understanding how a little goes along way..

Here are a few to try:

Loreal Decrease. You can find that at any drug store. It run's around 8 dollars.It is VERY much like primer potion from urban decay...So before you spend 20 try this for have the price.

Side note: Since I have been using this bases I honestly have not had one single problem with my shadows coming off...I have to scrub them off with  makeup remover.This is a dirty little secret that makeup artists every where have been using on brides and clients and photo shoots for years! The one thing I hear all the time now is "Wow your makeup is still on"or "Wow your makeup still looks good"...."Yes" I reply "I wrap it up"......

Must Have Eye Shadows! Drug store Buys!

I think I have been obsessed with eye shadows since I can remember .U wanna make a statement with out saying anything ...say it with your eyes...Alot of us are on a budget and YES I swear by quality over having a 100 crapy ones but,here are MY go 2 colors from a drug store....Ill show u guys great low end  products that I have and love!For the girl who wants to be Fab but on a budget!

Drug store must Have eye shadows.....These are inexpensive but totally pay off!

Loreal Hip.....

 I LUV LUV LUV these I totally compare them to mac eye shadows.VERY pigmented, you totally get a WOW effect from them.Inside there is a sponge tip applicator,and a mini mirror ,They travel well and at about 8-10 dollars for the duo set your deff getting a lot for your buck.AT CVS and Walgreens they do alot of buy one get one Half off or if you get Extra care bucks they are almost free.yes you can buy one color at a time..but WHY?

COVER Girl..........

A oldie but a goodie! My Sister and nieces swear by this set...infact this one I am showing it is  the one they have used for years! People stop them all the time and ask what shadows they are wearing ..Im not kidding..The set is Shimmer Sands and it is EVERY where.Satin finish,soft pigment,but looks great on pretty much everyone ,I do say those who have olive skin and darker hair might like this more ,but really these are soo pretty on.natural for day and you can add more for evening. Set runs about 3 to 5 dollars.Not to shabby!!

NYX............If you havent found these you must! The whole line is SUPER CHEAP! But used in soo many runway shows as well as youtube videos.They care it at target or you can go to www.nyxmakeup.com    

They run anywhere from 2 dollars to 7....Great way to start a collections or play with a color your not to sure you will like on your self or not..if you dont you didnt spend that much money!no harm!

These little sets from Revlon are so great because you get alot of colors and they run about 8 bucks...The payoff is subtle but i like them because it is soo hard to find matte shadows at a drug store.Revlon has a few and these are great with a base underneath.!If you buy it for just one color in the palette then it isnt a big deal.Didnt break the bank.

 

COSTAL Scents

YOU wan a TON of Shadows for under 30 dollars!!! These three are the best sets I have ever found they run about 20 to 25 bucks i think and this is really all u need rather you are into netural or shimmer or alittle mix of both...Take about a week to ship but worth the wait..They are alittle little than the way they are shown but I have been able to mix and match anything,any look using these!

Fall is Finally here!!! The leaves the wind, the cold,The fashion,makeup and hair trends...I dont know about you but I love the fall feeling..Not to bring up how much I love rocking a jacket.....

 MAKEUP Fall Trends:

Daytime ------

For fall day time makeup should be played down.This year less makeup is in for during the day.Bronzer's .. are huge this fall just a little where the sun would normally shine on your face just to keep that summer tan up..Dont go to dark just 1 to 2 shades darker than skin tone..not that tan you had in June that's sorta still there....Apply with a big fluffy brush and buff it out.add alittle soft blush for alittle day time color...Rec NARS blushes  

 Lips---Its Fall so dont be afraid to kick it down a notch....this fall its about lips and eyes....

 Here you can see that Kate has just a darker lip, bronzer,soft blush and mascara ...NO HEAVY EYELINE FOR DAYTIME......

Mascara---LASH IT up Ladies!! apply your fav Mascara first then curl then .give them a strong curl that will last though out the day..This one is my new fav. it runs about 6 bucks..not to bad! I really like it and dont usually buy drugstore mascara...The wand is great cause you can get right into your lashes.

 NIGHT TIME Makeup For Fall 2010--

Smokey eye is in BUT not the smokey your thinking off.....Smokey with color!!! Plums and Greens are it for Fall 2010...Pop it all around the eye to only from lid down..soft highlight a little liner ready to rock!

Red is the new Blonde for fall 2010

Find your shade that looks good with skin tone and eyes ..
but if you must be a Blonde watch your Blonde tones if they are the wrong shade for you it can age you ,and not in the sweet fake id way!!!So stay with something that complements skin tone when picking a blonde shade
